The Methodist Church website says ‘prayer is God's initiative, a gift which enables us to be attentive to the presence of God in our lives and in the world. It is also a means of expressing what we believe about God and can prompt us to act to change the world as we respond to God's love.’
At Calne Methodist Church our prayer life takes several aspects.
On a Sunday we have a ‘Prayer Book’ in which people can write their prayer requests, these are then used in our Intercessory Prayers during the service.
Prayer Lunch takes place on a Wednesday. A number of people meet in the Alan Bristow room at the Church for a time of Prayer starting at 12:30 pm. We pass on our concerns to one another for the World, for our town of Calne and for our Church community. We then have a time of prayer when we take these concerns to God. Following this we have our lunch together and a time of social interaction.
If there is someone or something you would like the Prayer Lunch to pray about then you can use the Church Answer Phone service on 01249 821451, you can write to the Church at Calne Methodist Church, Silver Street, Calne, SN11 0JF, or you can post a letter by hand through the letter box in the hall door (nearest the A4).
